Our Aquarium Trip

We had a wonderful day at Bristol Aquarium. This is the 'menu tank'. All of these fish are ones that we eat with chips and in our fish fingers. We learnt a fascinating fact about cod. We were very good at spotting the cod because of it's tongue on it's chin.

We found out about all different sorts of creatures that live under the sea.

We had to spot ray's. How many do you think we saw? They were very good at hiding!

These are fresh water fish. There were lots in the tank and so many colours. We tried to see some babies but we didn't manage to spot any.

The turtles were very interested in us as they thought we had food for them. We did go back later to feed them.

We saw Nemo today and learnt all about their special slime that covers their body, stopping them being stung by the anemones.

We had a go at moving like crabs with claws from left to right.

Here we are feeding the turtles and vegetarian piranhas sweetcorn. They were very hungry and greedy!

A fantastic day out enjoyed by everyone and we learnt so many facts about different animals that live under the sea.

Monday 30th January

Today we started 'The Titanic' as part of our termly topic. The children found out about what the Titanic was and how the people felt as they left Southampton heading for New York. Here are some pictures of FS2 acting out the passengers boarding the ship, giving in their tickets and waving goodbye to loved ones!

Tuesday 24th January

Today the Year 1's had their turn at following instructions carefully to make gingerbread men with Miss Joel. They were very confident and followed the instructions very carefully.

In maths we have been looking at positional language. Learning the difference between our left and right. Something that some of us find very tricky!

This afternoon all the children worked together to create a 'Katie Morag' display. Each child has either helped with sponging the landscape or painting buildings and Katie. Photos to follow when our display is complete or do come and see it on Friday morning before you drop off your child. We have been looking at Katie and the island where she lives.

Tomorrow, Mrs Shiner is the class teacher all day and will be looking at 'Jonah and the Whale'.

REMINDER: 'Reading Workshop' for FS2 parents after school on Tuesday 31st January.
