A visitor to Class 1 and 'Golden Time'

Today Mrs Southall taught Class 1 in the morning and they learnt about special places to them and other people. Elliott's dad very kindly came in to talk to the children about his faiths special place. Next week we have another visitor coming to talk about a different place that is special to them. Everyone talked about their special places and made postcards. Come and see them in our suitcase!

Today Thomas brought in a sharks tooth for us all to see. We all had a close look, it was very large and very sharp!

As you may already know on a Friday we have golden time in the afternoon. This is something that the children are given as a reward for good behaviour throughout the week. Many of the children have been taking great pride in not having lost any golden time. Children, whos behaviour is not acceptable during the week usually lose their golden time in 5 minute increments. During golden time the children enjoy child initiated activities that are structured in a very subtle way.

Crispin the Class Bear

This afternoon Crispin the class bear was given a much needed bath by the reception children. They have also washed his clothes and hung them to dry. Crispin is nearly ready for his new adventures. Keep an eye out for Crispin coming to stay with you for the weekend in the future!

This week year 1 have been reading the book 'Diary of a Wombat' and today they wrote a recount about Wombats day. They have really enjoyed this book and have found it very funny!

A good website we found for year 1 maths and any reception children who want to have a go:

Wednesday 28th April

'Did you know that the worlds biggest crab was the size of a small car?'
Yesterday year 1 used word and paint to write up their interesting facts that they learnt at the aquarium. They also made pictures to match. Come and see all of them on the wall in the classroom.
We have been creating an 'Under the Sea' dance in PE today. We thought about different fish, big and small, fast and slow and how they might move. This afternoon we carried on learning about 'Moving Pictures' and have been practising making mechanical levers to move parts of our pictures that we drew (pictures to follow). Some of the boys in the class have been making some very large construction outside over the last few days, do pop your head over the gate and have a look.

Reminder: Mrs Southall would like you to bring in a image of your special place for RE on Friday morning.
